The first thing we did was to watch crime solving TV shows so we can get an idea of what a crime is, we also had to take notes on the TV shows like: CSI, bones, cold case, mentalist, NCSI, and monk. All these shows were great and we had to watch over and over again. The second thing we did was to read short stories about unsolved criminal mysteries. All of the short stories made me see ‘’how a criminal thinks’’ and how they planned their crimes, and the purpose of why they would do it. It also made me think about that, even the least suspicious can be the killer or the murderer. The next thing we did was to go down to the computers and go to a website called ‘www.riddlenow.com’, which was about riddles on crime stories and we had to solve them. We had to solve up to 10 crimes or murder mysteries, some were easy but others, you had to think and look at the pictures and also the suspects so you could come up with a solution, they also with making our own crimes and helping us think like a criminal. We also did a little experiment in the science lab; we had to take finger prints, a piece of hair, and a thread of clothing to identify the criminal in the class. That made me think how forensic scientist and detectives can find out who did it. It was really interesting seeing my hair and other people’s hair under a microscope, and also comparing the finger prints and the thread of clothes. Now we had to choose teams of criminals which we could plan our own crimes and then let other people solve them. We used a hat and we put in papers with the names of our class mates, then we take 3 out and that would be a crime team of 3. My team mates were Jacques and Abinav which are people who I work well with. I think it was a fair way of choosing teams because then people would choose their friends and not work properly. After that, it was now time to begin writing our own crime stories which people in the class had to solve. We all put ideas in and combine them so we can get new ideas. I felt that my ideas were valuable to the crime story and also contributing in it. Next we played cluedo to have a small idea of how to solve a crime. It was really fun and entertaining to play, so we asked for an extra period to play one more time because we really liked it. Then the next day we had to write the solution and the answer of our crime stories with ought anyone seeing it with an exception of the teacher and the team members. On the next day after period 6, there was a splash of red ink on the bored, so the teacher asked “who did it” but nobody answered, so we started to question people. First we rote names on the bored and asked each one the question “where were you before and after the incident”, then we had a round of elimination until it was to the last two, Cedric and Jake, they questioned both of us and it all led to Jake. He was the criminal in this incident; it was a good example and practice for everyone. After that day it was time to solve our class mates’ crimes. Mine was very complex and well planed but it was missing some clues or detail about a character so you could know who did it. I solved it and my guess was right which mean I learned to think deeply and think of facts and possibilities which led to answer. I think the whole point of this exercise was to learn to use our heads more and think rationally for the future.
